Basement and Earth Sheltered Construction

Beco WALLFORM is the ideal method for building basements and earth sheltered dwellings. The WALLFORM system of interlocking components which are filled with concrete is extremely flexible and quick to build. Steel reinforcement is incorporated into the formwork system as the blocks are assembled so that the reinforced structure will act as a retaining wall once concreted.

With a tanking membrane applied to the outside face of the wall the below ground structure is then protected against the ingress of moisture and the internal finishes may be applied directly to the face of the WALLFORM. The wall construction is thinner than normal masonry specifications and is already thermally insulated as part of the basic construction, with time, space and cost advantages.

For the modern basement, using WALLFORM enables it to be a natural extension of living space within the footprint of the home without over-complicating the building process, and it does not have significant impact on the external appearance of the building above.
